What Paint brush
As a rule I tend to follow the example of most pro painters and decorators on the selection brushes, this being use synthetic bristles for water based paints and natural for oil based.
The reason being, natural bristles are actually like tiny straws, so when you load your brush from the paint kettle and give the brush a little tap on the side of the kettle it draws the paint into the bristles, and with the action of applying the brush to the surface of your work the paint is drawn from the bristles in a natural flow on to the surface area.
Water based paints tend to have less viscosity than oil based paints and have a shorter drying time, therefore it is more affective to have the paint left on the surface of the bristles, giving a better flow.
For the best results it is always a good idea to use the pest brushes you can afford. the ones I use are for oil based paints Hamilton Perfection

and for water based i use Purdy brushes
I have found both brands to be of excellent quality and up to the task.
Last week I purchased some brushes from the American company Wooster, i tried these out on a job last week so watch out for my review of these great brushes.

Johnsons paint app
Good evening.
Just down loaded a great app for the iphone, Johnsons paints colourmate app.
it allows you to take a photo of any given surface, or any item for that matter, and match the colour to the chart of 16000 colours on the chart. Amazing!!

First Post Spring offer
Hello to everyone.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to my blog, please be patient with me as this is my first proper attempt at blogging.
Anyway the purpose of this blog, "apart from a way of advertising my business," is hopefully to pass helpful information and review products, tools and materials, that I use on a daily bases, to the home DIY enthusiast and fellow handymen and tradesmen, so they can get some feed back on products they may wish to use on their own projects.
